can you confirm what NMN tastes like?

Post by tomasz » Sat Mar 14, 2020 11:01 am

Could those of you who use NMN powder (sub lingual) confirm what it tastes like? Several articles say it is supposed to taste like "salty popcorn" or "burnt popcorn". When I purchased some (not from Alive by Nature - it was a west coast vendor), I was concerned to find that it had a strong sour taste with a just a hint of bitterness, just like plain nicotinamide. The concern is that nicotinamide in large doses can be hepatoxic, and it can de-activate sirtuins, per Dr Sinclair, the very opposite effect from what everyone is looking for. I know that NMN can degrade into nicotinamide at high temperatures, so I am wondering if the vendor kept it too long in a hot warehouse, or worse, deliberately cut it with a cheap substitute. Nicotinamide does enhance sleep patterns, like NMN apparently, and it affects mood, joints, cardiovascular health too, so it might be hard to distinguish from NMN simply by its short term effects.

Thanks,
Tomasz.

NMN does have slightly sour taste. It does taste a bit different than Nicotinamide, but you need to experience both to know the difference.

One thing most people don't understand - there is quite a difference between manufacturers, even if they are the same purity. PH, particle size, and other differences influence how it tastes, dissolves, and absorbs.

One 98% NMN can be very different than another 99%. A lower PH (more acidic), will taste more sour, but absorb better and be more stable. PH should be between 4 and 4.5.

We find that NMN tastes a bit bitter and sour! We also keep our NMN in the fridge. :)

Thanks ABN for the explanation on the taste and the quality of the product.
It once again shows the length that you go to in supplying a “top line” supplement.

So does my elderly mom :)

If they ever do complain of the taste tell them to try Noni Juice and they will never ever complain of anything else again..
