Ok, so sleeping in a cold room (like 67 degrees) or with an open window all night in the winter can do this?

Naturally, i assume this precludes turtling under your covers.

I have been using cryotherapy tanks over the last 3 months and have seen positive changes. Less pain for sure but also a more energy throughout the day. It is much better than the cold pool!

Dr David, could I ask, do you just stay still in these cryotherapy chambers or tanks, or are you moving about trying to keep the blood pumping round the body and trying to stay warm?

I have been wanting to try these tanks for some time now. Thanks for the update on the benefits.

To associate exercise with positive feelings but still no luck with cold exposure.
How about trying high impact intensity training exercise outside in the winter - double the stress of being out of breath and cold at the same time. I'm going to put an exercise bike in an unheated outbuilding and will give it a try.

Unluckily we had an unseasonably warm spell immediately on relocating my exercise bike, but for the last 5 days now I have had sub-zero temperatures again first thing in the morning, and what's interesting is that my distance cycled was remaining fairly static before, but in the last 2 days its increased by 5% each day so it suggests there could be something to this. (Doing a 15 minute high intensity impact training session). Hopefully I get another couple of weeks before its too warm to make a difference, then I'll have to go back to freezing cold showers on my forearms - have to say this is "painful", but you do gradually get used to it - I'm up to doing 90 seconds now (could only manage 30 seconds when I started).

i did about 3 minutes in the shower today ... it's easier if you tense your stomach and chest. Maybe i'll kill some fat cells while i am at it.
