Could mice with Alzheimer’s disease introduced DNA repair deficiency, signs of neuroinflammation, decreased synaptic transmission and phosphorylated Tau pathologies improve with supplementation of Nicotinamide Riboside? The researchers saw that by supplementing with Nicotinamide Riboside there was a decrease in neuroinflammation, improved synaptic transmission and normalized DNA damage. The mice that were supplemented with Nicotinamide Riboside also showed improved memory, learning and motor function. These findings led the researchers to believe that NAD+ supplementation has therapeutic implications for humans with Alzheimer’s disease.

What would be the most effective NAD+ supplement for treating alzheimer's - sublingual powder/tablets or nasal spray?

I dont know that we have an answer for this yet. Currently the research has just begun to be deciphered and there are very few clinicians actually working with these products especially in the Alzheimer subset. I think anyone of these products would be beneficial but I recommend that a patient with neurodegenerative disease begin with the nasal spray and then add either the tablets or powder to increase dose.

Another positive research study on the effect of NR on alzheimer's:

NR lessened pTau pathology in both 3xTgAD and 3xTgAD/Polβ+/- mice

NR-treated 3xTgAD/Polβ+/- mice exhibited reduced DNA damage, neuroinflammation, and apoptosis of hippocampal neurons and increased activity of SIRT3 in the brain. NR improved cognitive function in multiple behavioral tests and restored hippocampal synaptic plasticity in 3xTgAD mice and 3xTgAD/Polβ+/- mice

My mother, who has late stage Alzheimer's has had fantastic results using NAD+ nasal spray, Nuchido's Time+ and ashwagandha. The ashwagandha has been included for its ability to reduce cortisol. It took about 6 or 7 weeks to notice anything. The nurses can't believe it. Her symptoms have been reversed 7 or 8 months. I don't know how far she can go with this but she is still improving.

It is wonderful to hear this news and how NAD and other natural products have helped your mom. How much time has she been on the product and how many mg per day are you using to achieve these results?

She has been taking the nad+ nasal spray about 10 weeks and the time+ and ashwagandha about 8 weeks. The abn NAD+ nasal spray she has 4 squirts up each nostril per day. The time+ is the standard dose of 3 capsules twice a day taken 6 hours apart. The ashwagandha 6 g twice a day.
My mother will be 94 yo at the end of this month.

It would be good to see if others have a similar response. I know the Vancouver Dementia Centre uses NAD+ in a nebuliser.
