Multiple Ways to Increase NAD+ Levels

Post by jocko6889 » Wed Jul 24, 2019 1:06 am

Exercise, weight loss, proper nutrition, adequate sleep, sauna/cold therapy - All therapies that have a big impact on healthy aging also improve NAD+ levels. Not a coincidence…. latest study:

Aerobic and resistance exercise training reverses age‐dependent decline in NAD+ salvage capacity in human skeletal muscle

This is pretty good info, (from the portion I could understand)

Added to this, intermittent fasting is a big boost to NAD+ levels.

From a study I just read, fasting in the evenings produced results with weight loss and even insulin dependence over time

Couldn’t agree more...Been doing IF for 8 months and my fat loss is incredible. Went from 36 waist to 33. Also doing 72 hour fast every quarter. Feeling better than ever. Take NMN first thing every morning and then 2-3 times/day. I feel the difference in a big way.

From my experience, intermittent fasting in conjunction with taking NMN has a profound effect on Health,Wellbeing and Weight loss.
I personally try not to eat anything after 7pm through to 11am the following day.
I only eat within the created 8 hour window.
If I really want the weight to drop significantly, I restrict myself to 2000 kilojoules in that 8 hour period a couple of times a week.
It’s not easy to do ( takes a little willpower )
but the results and increase in energy levels can be exceptional.

I also do intermittent fasting, i do the 16/8 style of IF. Basically only eat from 12pm-8pm during the day, usually ends up being 2 meals + a snack and I feel 100% better.

Being a foodie myself, I have to say, I never thought i'd stick with IF for long but it was real easy after the first 48 hours (will power definitely required for the first two days if you were previously a "big eater")

I take the sublingual NMN twice a day, split the dosage over the day.

Not everyone has access to saunas and cryotherapy chambers. But these can be easily substituted for hot and cold showers. In the end, all we want to achieve is to release heat shock and cold shock proteins that our bodies produce when in stress, which in turn promote higher NAD+ levels from what I understand.

And I will also subscribe to the fact that IF is probably the biggest contributing factor to feeling better overall. Mentally and physically, I feel myself sharper, stronger and overall more youthful. One would assume due to the higher levels of NAD+ produced.

I haven't tried IF yet, but a work colleague is currently doing the 16/8 style and says it's great. He's also made the switch from "regular" coffees to cold drip coffee...looks like it helps to suppress appetite: https://www.firstpresscoffee.com/the-co ... t-fasting/

very interesting article! I might switch to cold drip, although its not as readily available as regular coffee. I can attest to the IF. Totally worth it and noticeable benefits and changes in the body within weeks.. I'm not quite at 16/8 yet. but slowly making my way there.

Agreed, cold drip coffee is a bit harder to find, and I find that if I do come across it in a cafe it is is pricier!

I just tried to find some videos on how to make it at home and initially I found one on how to make "cold brew" coffee thinking it was the same thing but it's not, which was interesting! Here's an article for those like me who thought cold brew and cold drip were one and the same: https://www.taste.com.au/articles/cold- ... e/dkuzovzo

I've also found these videos on how to make cold drip at home...key principles are the same, but each video uses a different piece of equipment:

This one is for cold brew (definitely more accessible as it only requires a French press):

Are there any other good natural alternatives out there to suppress appetite if you are not a coffee drinker?
Some forum users may struggle with intermittent fasting and the initial associated food cravings.
